Cookies & Tracking

An itemized account of everything the site stores in your browser, and everything it deliberately does not.

Short answer

BhuBharati Explorer runs Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages get used. It sets two first-party cookies for that. There are no advertising cookies, no session replay, and no cross-site tracking, and your land searches are never sent to it.

What is stored in your browser

Mechanism Used for Persists across visits?
In-memory page state (JavaScript variables) Holding the currently fetched village's records so you can search, sort, filter, and export them No, cleared on reload or tab close
_ga and _ga_MSSBY7M4SP cookies (Google Analytics 4) Telling repeat visits apart from new ones, so the visitor and session counts mean something Yes, up to 2 years, unless you clear site data
Browser cache (standard HTTP caching) Reusing styles.css, app.js, and icon assets so the page loads faster on repeat visits Yes, for static assets only, not personal or record data

Apart from those analytics cookies, we do not use localStorage, sessionStorage, or IndexedDB to remember you, your searches, or your location selections between visits. The district, mandal, and village you pick, the names you search for, and the records that come back stay in the page's memory and are gone when you close the tab.

What we don't use

  • No first-party or third-party advertising cookies
  • No advertising or remarketing platform, and Google Signals is switched off, so analytics data is not tied to a Google account or used for ad targeting
  • No session-replay or heatmap scripts
  • No cross-site tracking pixels
  • No fingerprinting scripts

Third-party requests

Your browser makes a small number of third-party requests:

  • Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) loads the DM Sans and Fraunces typefaces used across the site.
  • Google Analytics (googletagmanager.com, google-analytics.com) records that a page was viewed, along with the referring site, approximate location from a truncated IP address, and device and browser type. It never receives the names you search for or the records you open.
  • Our own backend: the site calls the BhuBharati Explorer backend to fetch districts, mandals, villages, and land records. This is first-party to the product, not a third-party tracker.

If that ever changes

Should we add anything further, such as error-tracking (e.g. an exception monitor) or preference storage, we will list it here by name and purpose, keep it to the minimum needed to run or debug the service, and avoid third-party advertising and cross-site tracking categories entirely. The "Last updated" date above moves whenever this page's content changes.
