About this map
Where the boundaries come from, and what they are worth
BhuBharati records say what a survey number is, giving the pattadar, the extent and the classification, but never where it sits. The shapes here come from a separate government system: the digitised Bhunaksha cadastre published by TGRAC, the Telangana Remote Sensing Applications Centre, as one polygon per surveyed parcel.
The two systems share no key, so a village is joined between them by name, and a survey number is matched to the parcel that contains it. The cadastre is mapped to a shallower level than the records go: it carries base survey numbers and shallow sub-divisions, while a record may run to 7/D/1/2. Deep sub-divisions are therefore grouped under the parent parcel that was actually surveyed, which is why one parcel often lists several records.
Boundaries are indicative. Digitisation carries a metre or two of error against satellite alignment, some survey numbers are missing from the layer altogether, and an area measured off a polygon will not match the extent a record reports. For a legal boundary, obtain the Tippan from the Tahsildar's office. To search the same village by owner name instead, use the pattadar lookup; for the full record table with export, use the record explorer.
